Best Ever Backpacks: Dakine Girls Jewel BackPack 9 Inch

Dakine Girls Jewel BackPack 9 Inch

I'm a college student. I live in a place where it rains a lot, so if you have your lap top in your backpack make sure, you get a sleeve for it. Also, when it starts pouring, your papers may get wet. But not too much! I love this back pack, its hasn't ripped or anything. I got it around september and now its april. And it's really cute, the lunch compartment is really cool! I went swimming once, and I just put my bathing suit in their so nothing got wet in the rest of my back pack. It has two cup holders, which I think it a plus, because whenever I want water and another drink it's always right where I need it to be. And they're are so many storage pockets, it's crazy! And I can fit 3 text books that are paper back 1 inch and 5 subject notbook and 2 in binder, and my laptop. So that should give you an idea how well everything fits!

  1. I am very happy with the quality of this backpack. It is also very comfortable and lays high on your back, great for heavy books. My favorite part is the cooler lunch area. Overall great bag and cute design. It is a little bigger than in the pic, but not too much. Just FYI.

  3. I'm a female science major with joint problems and this backpack has been a Godsend. The straps are arranged so that even with textbooks and my laptop, the weight is distributed evenly and comfortably. My two favorite things about the backpack are the specialty pockets. There is an insulated pocket that allows me to keep snacks and drinks cool, very important when running from class to class. There is also a velvet lined pocket at the top of the backpack. This is designed for sunglasses, and is amazing for that purpose, as well as holding small electronics.

The only problem I could see with this bag is when it is loaded up with books in the front pocket, it is very difficult to fit my 13 inch laptop into the laptop compartment, or place water bottles in the pockets on the sides. This would be even more difficult with a larger laptop, so take that into consideration.

It arrived quickly, and is of very solid construction. I love it.

A friend of mine had a Dakine backpack that I loved, only her model was a bit roomier than I needed. I still wanted something that held a lot, but for me, if it has extra space, I will fill it up and end up with 50lbs more than I need. This is roomy, very comfortable, has plenty of little compartments, which is always fun, and I love the color/style. I get a lot of compliments on it which is also a plus. I have back issues and so comfort is also very important to me, and this backpack has been great. It is very comfortable and doesn't hurt my back. I'm very happy with this product and would definitely buy from Dakine again and again.

I'm a college student and this backpack has been great for me. It isn't too big, but it fits everything I need perfectly. If you need a BIG backpack I would say this isn't for you, but if you like a more streamline backpack that has a lot of great organizational pockets then this is great. The one different thing is that it is a very long backpack, which might pose a problem for shorter people. I'm 5'5 and it fits me fine. Also the part that you can put food/water/icepack has also came in really handy!!

I am a high school senior who was looking for a larger bag that can hold my books and my laptop once I go away to college. The size was not as big as I expected but definitely bigger than my Vera Bradley original large backpack! It is durable, fun, and very convenient with its cooler pouch, and a very surprising soft pouch! I definitely recommend this bag to anyone!

  7. I searched high and low for a backpack that would look cool, last, and fit plenty of books all while being properly supportive. This backpack works great for my middle schooler. It fits in her locker, fits all of her stuff, and has tons of little pockets for everything she needs. The little cooler pocket in front is a nice idea but is too small to hold much more than a few sticks of string cheese. This particular pattern doesn't show dirt at all, so it looks brand new. The way the straps are connected in the back and well-padded, make for a comfortable and balanced carrying experience. She'll likely tire of it long before it falls apart. Well done, Dakine.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this backpack! It fits EVERYTHING perfectly....I have had it for about a month and shockingly everything is still very organized in it. This is because the pockets and zippers are so well designed. It has a separate zipper/pocket for your laptop (I have a Macbook Pro 13" and it fits just great), the insulated pocket for food is such an awesome perk! It fits soooo much more than you would think and if something spills it doesn't make a mess in the rest of the backpack. I love the straps they fit perfect and it is so lightweight I can carry all of my books (~7 books/15-20 lbs)and my laptop without a problem. This is BY-FAR the best backpack I have ever owned...and I am so glad I bought it! :)

My daughter had been looking for a backpack for about 6 months, when she found this one. The best thing is the back straps. They have an extra loop at the top that spreads out the weight between both shoulder straps. She is in High School always has a ton of books, so it gets very heavy. With the new straps, it really distributes the weight evenly to not put so much pressure on her back. Of course she loves all the pockets (especially the padded one for her laptop, and she loved the pattern.
The only bad thing was that it came shipped to us with the security tag still on it. I called customer service and they were very helpful in giving me instructions on how to remove it.
We have been through so many backpacks over the years, we wish we would have known about the Dakine brand before.
