Best Backpacks for School: Pecoware Thomas Side Kick Lunch

Pecoware Thomas Side Kick Lunch

My son loves everything Thomas. This was especially a big hit because of it's durability and style. I love the fact that it comes with everything! The sandwich container has a double decker compartment, and is perfect for a sandwich (or chicken nuggets, etc.), and the other compartment, which is like an extra plate inside the container is perfect for sides of veggies. The pop-up canteen is spillproof, and my son does love to drink out of it. And unlike other pop-up straws, this straw is short and hard, so it won't hamper speech development (otherwise they will just be sucking on it like a pacifier). It is also roomy enough to include other essentials like napkins, and cutlery, or a small toy. The only drawback is that the artwork in the canteen is falling apart, but I thought that was because it has been handwashed several times with a harsh detergent when we went to India for a month. Now I use the dishwasher and it has stopped the deterioration of the artwork. And also, my three-year old tends to fumble when opening or closing the hatch. On the other hand, he will be developing his fine-motor skills! With or without lunch, he loves toting it around and storing his toys on it. Plus, we get a lot of praise whenever other kids or moms see it, and they always asks us where we bought it!

This Thomas Train Lunchbox is GREAT! My three year old son was so excited when he saw it for the first time. It is spacious and well constructed. The compartments are large and there are multiple options for use with each piece. The kids (ages 3-5) in his preschool class went crazy when he brought it to school. It is a one of a kind.

Durable plastic, with room enough for the heartiest appetites. The sandwich container has a tray which allows for even more storage. Pecoware made a great product. I'll order their ballerina one for my daughter (it's made exactly like the Thomas one).

  4. This is THE lunchbox to get! My six year old son received this as a gift for his first birthday. I didn't think much of it at the time. HA! Little did I know how much we would use this durable and practical lunch box set! I can pack his lunch everyday without one piece of plastic wrap or one plastic baggie! A sandwich fits perfectly in the tray provided and stays fresh and soft until lunch time! Under the sandwich I pack fruit, pretzels or other snacks....again without any plastic wrap or baggy! I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!!!

  5. Bought this for my 21 month old and actually to make it easier for myself as I now have all his snacks in one place while we are on the run and he just LOVES it. My son is very into being a "big boy" and definitely feels like one with his new Thomas lunchbox. The thermos with straw is just perfect for him as he doesn't drink out of sippy cups and he loves to press the button to pop open the cap. It comes with this AWESOME extra thomas themed tupperware type container with two sections AND it also has a "secret" compartment in the front of the lunchbox. It's very sturdy and has a nice carry handle as well as a very nice latch to keep it closed, we LOVE IT! Can't go wrong with this one AND just one last goodie...when you put it in the dishwasher, the images DO NOT come off...YAY!! Just perfect! Update: I paid $14.00 for this, price JUST went up for the holidays to $19.99 - it will go back down, watch for the sales!

  6. I gave this 5 stars for fun, because my son loved it from day one, and would not leave the store without it. He played with it for days while we waited for school to reopen after Christmas.I rated it 5 stars for educational value, because it made him want to go to school, which is a significant educational achievement indeed.Unfortunately, I had to mark it down, because the water bottle is already broken at the point where the button to press it open meets the cap. Also, the straw is hard to clean, especially after a young child eats a cheesy snack and nibbles on the straw.
Lastly, the front compartment is very difficult to open, especially for a young child, so you end up not using that section at all.Other than these, it's tough, it's cute, and it's a retro look that parents remember all too well. Substitute another bottle, and enjoy.

  7. My 3 year old son has this lunchbox and he dropped it and it cracked. It's not very durable. Also, it has a compartment for an ice pack, but didn't come with one. It is very difficult to find an ice pack for the size of the compartment. On a good note, he loves the drinking cup and snack box.

  8. I had a hard time finding a plastic lunch box, but AMAZON.com had it. I was looking for a plastic lunch box instead of Vinyl or tin and I couldn't find it anywhere. I feel the plastic lunch boxes are easier to clean and safer for children.

Thank you for having this product.
