Best Ever Backpacks: Dakine 25 Litre Prom Pack 9 Inch

Dakine 25 Litre Prom Pack 9 Inch

I need a backpack for a trip to Europe this summer. I'd been looking for awhile because I wanted a smooth shoulder carrier design without a lot of straps, snaps, buckles, etc. My searches did not turn up anything that looked acceptable to me. Then, while in Hawaii, I discovered Dakine.....just what I was looking for! A lot of school and college kids use these for transporting their loads, plus travelers. I was thrilled to find that Dakine makes several lines sized for women. I gave my Prom Pack a trial run during a recent trip to Charleston and LOVED it! It was so easy to slide on and off, and left my hands free while trecking through airports. I'm 60 years old and found this size and style perfect for my needs. The pack is designed with spaces for everything you need while traveling... my notepad, cell phone, Nano, travel papers, etc., and has one large deep pocket for stashing a change of clothing (just in case luggage doesn't arrive) and more. And, the Prom Pack is also very attractive, with a bright turquoise lining. In summary, I love this backpack! If I could justify it, I'd buy a couple more in different colors, just because they're so cute :)

This is an adorable pack, perfect for traveling. I purchased it prior to a trip to Barcelona so i wouldn't have to carry a rolling carry-on and look like a dork on the Metro.

I easily packed a week's worth of skirts and t-shirts rolled up along with 3 pairs of shoes and jammies. I packed my tablet in the interior pocket, a small make-up bag in an exterior pocket and sunglasses in another exterior pocket.

This pack is very sturdy and well-made so I envision getting plenty of use out of it. Truthfully, I might use it in place of my luggage from now on. I got plenty of compliments on this bag. I highly recommend it!

  3. Great size (large). Holds water bottle, snacks, phone, pencil case, lunch, up to a couple heavy textbooks and a laptop. Great for lugging around lots of gear around campus. I highly recommend this product!

  5. Love the floral pattern. Perfect size for commuting in the city. I can fit a six-cup (short and wide, rather than tall and narrow) plastic food container in the cooler pocket along with a knife, fork and napkin. I don't put an ice pack in there though. Main compartment has plenty of room for gym clothes, sneakers, wallet, sweater, hard glasses case etc. I LOVE the outboard water bottle pocket. Love that thing. Everyone writes about how handy the sunglasses pocket at the top of the bag is. I agree - it's awesome. This is a great day-to-day bag.

I resisted buying a backpack for years because I hate the bulky look of them - you stuff them full and then it adds three feet to your profile. However, I'm a first year law student and I knew I needed something large, durable, and padded enough to save my back. I've had this backpack since August and I'm so glad I bought it! The price is great and the quality is awesome. I love the fleece lined pocket on top to store my ipod, and the large inner pouch is perfect to haul casebooks home and fit my (huge) laptop. The best part, though, is that it NEVER looks bulky or overstuffed; even when it's crammed full it looks really compact from the outside. It has the perfect amount of pockets, too; everything about this backpack was thought out and there aren't any unnecessary features. The pen pouch, the insulated pouch, and the very outside pocket are useful and again, don't add bulk. Even the handle on the top is brilliant. To top it all off the color is nice and it's not garish like NorthFace backpacks I see on campus or impractically stylish like Hershel's. I don't leave reviews often but if you're thinking about this, buy it. Not too big, not too small: just right for a weekend trip or the demanding life of a 1L :)

  7. I will never buy a JanSport again. I love the color of this backpack. It's very high quality and the cooler pack can hold something flat like a sandwich but does not work well for containers but they still fit. This is an awesome backpack and I highly recommend it. If I can answer questions I will. The cooler is lined with plastic and would make a good swim pouch or even a wet bag.

Bought this backpack to take to Disney. The insulated pocket came in handy - held 3 normal size water bottles and a smaller water bottle. Still lots of room for jackets, souvenirs, etc. A great bargain for such a well-made bag. Very pleased with this purchase!
