Best School Backpack: BRICA By My Side Safety Harness Backpack

BRICA By My Side Safety Harness Backpack

If you have an independent little wanderer, like I do, this safety harness backpack is a lifesaver. It keeps her from darting into streets or wandering off when my attention is divided between my two children or when travelling through airports, etc. and visiting children's gardens, museums, hiking, shopping, anywhere. I thought she might not like being tethered, but after practicing with it at home and around town for a couple of days, she loves it and wore it without fuss all throughout during our recent trip. Just be careful to not let the harness get wound around the body or neck! As with any other harness system, this requires constant attention and is NOT a license to let your attention wander off your children! The little backpack is a nice feature as well, to carry extra snacks, toys, clothes or diapers around and have right at hand.

I got it for my 19 months old nephew who likes running away from his mom in public places. He liked it right away and wanted to carry it on his back. Great size bag, adjustable straps, removable leash, has a pocket to hold a sippy cup. I got him also Sunshine Kids Sure Steps Safety Strap at the same time. He didn't want even to put that on. Every time we tried to get him to put it on he cried. The straps of brica are a lot softer than the sunshine kids safety strap.

We bought this for my two year old daughter when we went to Disneyland. I was worried that she wouldn't want to keep the backpack on but she loved it. Her older brothers treated her like a dog and made her walk them around but it kept her nearby and in our sight. Yes, it's a leash. Yes, it's dog-like. Yes, I still have my daughter after 3 days in Disneyland. It's worth the emotional scars you think your kid will have but actually won't.

  5. Bought this for our 18 month old daughter. She is wild, she is fast. But she loves this backpack. Makes her think she's Dora! I worried she might have some resistance to wearing it as it needs to fit tight to work properly, but not at all. I would recommend this to any parent. Well worth the $12.

We've owned this backpack for a year. My daughter has a feeding tube and wears this backpack when she's on continuous feeds during the day. You can fit an Infinity Enteralite pump, 500mL bag with tubing with and still have enough room for a small ice pack if you need one. We don't use the "leash". She's been wearing it since she started walking, around 14lbs and 28". We do use car seat strap covers with it since she wears it for several hours a day with weight in it.

Used for airplane and train travel. Before this I used one of those stuffed animal harnesses which only have a tiny pocket. With this, my kid could have snacks, toys, small books, a sippy cup, pack of cards, sunglasses all in his own personal item carry on! There are side pockets to stuff the tail/leash in when not using it.
